Ink Jet Printers for Professional and Home Use

Ink jet printers work by impelling a jet of colored ink to the paper directly. Colors that are used by low-end jets are magenta, yellow and cyan, however they provide muddy black color. When pure black prints are required then four-color jets, having black ink are used. Ink jet printers are put to special use by the industries. They are the most popular computer printers. Some of the special uses of these printers are for stock control systems, ATMs and cash registers.

Ink jet printers use cartridges to print, along with a series of heated-chambers. For producing images, current is induced in the heating elements. Bubble is formed in the chambers due to the explosion of steam in them and they in return impel a drop of ink on to the paper. The excess ink is sucked back when the bubble condenses. In some jet printers instead of heating elements piezoelectric crystals are present. This was the method employed by old ink jet printers along with electrostatic mechanism.

Ink jets are reasonably inexpensive. They are quick, quiet, with high resolution and provide good quality prints. Other printers like thermal wax, laser printers and dye sublimations need some warm up time before starting to print, but ink jet printers start working as soon as they are switched on.

The economic cost per page consumed by ink jet printers is also less. Besides these benefits ink jet printers have some disadvantages too. Some of the ink jet printers have weak print heads and costly ink cartridges, as a result consumers prefer laser printers for simple applications. Ink bleeding due to capillary effect is another area of concern when buying ink jet printers. Although, there is a remedy to this problem it too has strings attached to it. Clay-treated papers are available in the market that can help minimize bleeding to some extent but they are bit expensive besides having somewhat bad texture.

Apart from the popular small in size ink jet printers used for home and office purposes, there are wide format printing inkjet printers too. They produce prints having width between 24 inches to 5 meters. All those big advertisements, posters and bills that you see on the bill boards in your city are the products of the professional ink jet printers.
